Reports to: Director of Operations

Position Overview:

The Mental Health HR Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support employees’ mental well-being in the workplace. This role involves fostering a mentally healthy work environment, developing policies and programs to promote mental health, and providing guidance on mental health resources. The HR Manager will collaborate with management, employees, and external mental health professionals to create a culture of wellness, inclusivity, and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Employee Mental Health Support:
  • Develop and manage mental health programs aimed at supporting employees’ emotional well-being.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees seeking mental health resources, including referrals to counselors, therapists, or mental health professionals.
  •  Maintain confidentiality and support employees in crisis situations.
  1. Policy Development:
  •    Develop and implement workplace policies that promote mental health, including work-life balance, stress management, and resilience.
  •    Ensure compliance with mental health regulations and labor laws.
  •    Advocate for mental health accommodations and develop flexible policies for employees needing support.
  1. Training and Education:
  •    Provide training and education to managers and employees on mental health awareness, stigma reduction, and available support systems.
  •    Collaborate with external providers to deliver mental health workshops, seminars, and well-being programs.
  1. Collaboration with Management:
  •    Advise leadership on best practices for managing employee mental health.
  •    Partner with management to implement strategies for reducing workplace stress and fostering a positive work environment.
  •     Work with occupational health and safety teams to identify risks and mitigate factors affecting employee mental well-being.
  1. Employee Assistance Programs (EAP):
  •    Oversee the Employee Assistance Program and ensure employees are aware of and can access services when needed.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and recommend improvements.
  1. Conflict Resolution:
  •    Assist in resolving conflicts related to workplace stress, anxiety, or other mental health challenges that may impact performance.
  •    Provide mediation services when necessary and work with legal teams if mental health-related issues arise in workplace disputes.
  1. Data and Reporting:
  •     Monitor employee engagement and mental health metrics (e.g., absenteeism, turnover, feedback surveys).
  •    Analyze trends in employee well-being and report findings to leadership with actionable insights.
  1. Crisis Management:
  •    Respond to mental health crises in the workplace, offering immediate support and connecting employees with external professionals as needed.
  •    Develop a crisis management protocol for handling severe mental health issues, including suicide prevention.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  •    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  •    Certifications in mental health-related areas (e.g., Mental Health First Aid, SHRM-SCP, etc.) are a plus.

Experience:

  •    5+ years of experience in HR with a focus on employee well-being, mental health, or similar functions.
  •    Experience working in a healthcare setting or with mental health professionals is advantageous.

Skills:

  •    Strong knowledge of mental health laws and employee rights.
  •    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations.
  •    Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide compassionate, non-judgmental support.
  •    Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions:
