Job Summary:

The Mental Health Paraprofessional will provide support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role involves assisting mental health professionals in delivering therapeutic services, conducting assessments, and implementing treatment plans under supervision. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping individuals achieve mental well-being and possess strong communication and organizational skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Support:
  •    Assist clients with daily living activities and personal care as needed.
  •    Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients.
  •    Facilitate individual and group therapeutic activities.
  •  Monitor and report changes in clients’ mental and physical health.

 

  1. Administrative Duties:
  •    Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
  •    Schedule appointments and coordinate with other healthcare professionals.
  •    Assist in preparing reports and documentation for case reviews.

 

  1. Assessment and Intervention:
  •    Conduct preliminary assessments and gather relevant client history.
  •    Implement treatment plans and interventions as directed by licensed mental health professionals.
  •    Observe and document client behavior and progress.

 

  1. Crisis Intervention:
  •    Recognize and respond to signs of crisis or escalating behaviors.
  •    Provide immediate support and assist in de-escalation efforts.
  •    Follow established protocols for crisis management and emergency situations.

 

  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  •     Work closely with therapists, counselors, and other healthcare providers.
  •     Communicate effectively with clients, families, and community resources.
  •     Participate in team meetings and case conferences.

 

  1. Professional Development:
  •    Stay informed about best practices and current trends in mental health care.
  •     Attend training and professional development opportunities as required.

 

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Prior experience in a mental health or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  •   Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  •   Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  •   Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities.
  •   Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.

 

Other Requirements:

  •   Must pass a criminal background check.
  •   Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on job location and duties.

 

Work Environment:

  • The position may involve working in various settings, including clinics, residential facilities, and community-based environments.
  •  May require occasional evening or weekend hours based on client needs.
