Reports to: Clinical Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Mental Health Qualified Professional (QMHP) is responsible for providing direct mental health care and therapeutic services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The QMHP will assess client needs, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions to promote mental wellness and recovery. This role may also involve collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external service providers to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Assessment and Evaluation:
  •    Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ mental health, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  •    Use standardized diagnostic tools to determine mental health diagnoses and evaluate the level of care required.
  •    Assess risk factors and develop crisis intervention plans when necessary.
  1. Treatment Planning and Implementation:
  •    Develop individualized treatment plans based on the client’s diagnosis, goals, and needs.
  •    Provide therapeutic interventions including individual, group, or family counseling using evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care.
  •    Continuously monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure client progress.
  1. Case Management:
  •    Coordinate care by working closely with medical professionals, social workers, and other community resources to provide holistic services.
  •     Advocate for clients in accessing social services, housing, employment, or legal support as part of their recovery process.
  •    Monitor client progress and document all activities in compliance with regulations and agency policies.
  1. Crisis Intervention:
  •    Provide immediate crisis intervention services to clients in distress, including suicide prevention, de-escalation, and safety planning.
  •    Assist in the development and execution of crisis intervention protocols, working with law enforcement or emergency services if needed.
  •     Ensure that clients have access to 24/7 emergency support or referral services.
  1. Counseling and Therapy:
  •    Provide short-term or long-term therapy sessions depending on the client’s needs.
  •    Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on mental health education, skill-building, and peer support.
  •    Engage clients and families in therapeutic interventions to support recovery and coping strategies.
  1. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams:
  •    Work alongside psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  •    Participate in case review meetings, ensuring all team members are aligned with the client’s care plan.
  •    Coordinate referrals to other services (e.g., inpatient care, substance use treatment, etc.) when necessary.
  1. Documentation and Compliance:
  •    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with agency policies and legal requirements.
  •    Ensure compliance with relevant state, federal, and local regulations, including HIPAA and confidentiality protocols.
  •    Participate in audits and quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of care are met.
  1. Community Outreach and Education:
  •    Provide mental health education to clients, families, and community members to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
  •    Participate in community outreach programs to promote mental health services and improve access to care.
  •    Collaborate with community partners to strengthen the network of mental health resources.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  •    Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  •    Licensure or certification as a QMHP (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in accordance with state regulations.

Experience:

  •     2+ years of experience working in a mental health or behavioral health setting, providing direct services to individuals with mental health needs.
  •     Experience working with diverse populations, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders, trauma, or chronic mental illness.

Skills:

  •    Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-based practices.
  •    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  •    Ability to manage crisis situations with calmness and professionalism.
  •    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in case documentation and reporting.
